d.j.handi-wipe

Hello all. I’m Stacey Spiegel and d.j.handi-wipe is my experimental music alter ego. I spent a good deal of my young life experimenting with cough syrup and sound. I’ve left the cough syrup far behind, but still love creating audio atmospheres for the listener to enjoy.

“35 trippy minutes” is the current recording and is actually 36 1/2 minutes in length. It is a private performance piece using recordings made between 2/25/06 and 4/12/06. My special guests on this album are the K.O.Tex Kid (“Pretoria”), Pepto Tapeworm and Sean G. Tracey (“Rainy Day”) and Lisa Honecker as the voice of “Something Good”. Download the "35 trippy minutes" album, in its entirely, below.

“Vocem Meam Audi” is a collection of recordings I made between 1997 and 2004. There are 8 pieces on this disk, which is over 70 minutes long. My special guests include Bill McLaine helping me with samples and keyboard on “Christmas Card”, “Lesson #1” and “Mush Trilogy”. ‘Little’ Brian Rowa appeared playing keyboard on “Lesson #1”. There are also cameos by friends of mine doing such things as cutting up a couch with a chainsaw (Mike Sommerville), helping me hold 2 cats next to each other to get a cat sound effect (Dean Matherly) and recording a train going by on the corner of Sierra Highway and Avenue G (Bill Reger) for “Random Acts of Silence”.

A million thanks to Mikie for infinite support. Thanks also to Nancy for the web page, Kerry (my #1 fan) and everyone who has contributed to my sonic mayhem. Download the "35 trippy minutes" album, in its entirely, below.

Dzong

(Stacey Spiegel and William E. Hertel 3)

Featuring Sam Schnieder, Bill Reger, Mike Coleman, Billy McLain, Kerry Spiegel, Brian Rowa and many others at various times. Dzong formed in 1994 as an experimental improvised recording project. We made many recordings over the first year.

In September 1995 we started doing live multi-track recordings. Our first performance was in the middle of a large field northwest of Lancaster, California. Then we became regulars at Hang’n Java coffee house, also in Lancaster, doing 12 performances over the next year and a half. our shows evolved into multi-media presentations during 1996 where we would perform behind screens, show films and slides, and present low tech light shows. William was in charge of the visual displays and I was responsible for recording and mixing the music and shows. These recordings were mixed and released in limited number on cassettes. These recordings (“Aspects of the Moonking”, “Home Baby Experiment Kit”, “Umbra”, “Diet for a 1-Year Old”, and “Wood”) will be re-released on CD in the near future.

In January 1997 we had the technology to record the live shows directly to digital audio tape. We recorded our last 2 shows at Hang’n Java in this way as well as our biggest show, “Family Values Jubilee”, which took place on May 10, 1997 at Cedar Street Theater in Lancaster. These recordings (“Technasm” and “Family Values Jubilee”) will also be released.

We did 3 more shows over the summer then went on hiatus. In 2000 William and I reunited for a project with John Roberts (of “Spacerust”) called “Dzong-Industrial-Espionage”, or “D.I.E.”. We recorded a live improvised soundtrack for the Starevich animated classic “The Mascot” at Cedar Street Theater on October 28, 2000. John and I got together again in February 2004 as “D.I.E.” to record soundtracks for “The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari” and “Vampyr”.

I have spent the last couple of years getting the music archived and ready for production. The current “Dzong” album is “Deca”. It is a compilation of 6 recordings made between June 1995 and September 1996. These are some of our more musical experiments.

Operation Anal Probe

The experiments continue & the Irritable - Cow - Syndrome is starting to take over the mind of Dr. Brainwash. Thanks to our latest experiment we have learned to create a Stockholm Brain Implant. We successfully took control of our first test subject & assimilated him as one of our own. This completes phase 2 of the prime directive of O.A.P.We look forward to phase 3 when we test the S.B.I. on one the world’s oldest & greatest icons, Santa Clause. Keep an eye out for the probe because we’re coming for you next. -Master Phallace

We are making extraordinary progress. Our "reprogramee" is working out even better than expected. Soon all will fall to the power of the Stockholm Brain Implant. Your inevitable submission will be greatly appreciated. Rumors of our alien influence have not been exaggerated. -DJ handi-wipe

Indeed, our time has come. Experiments on the lesser race have borne extraordinary information concerning human weaknesses. Disturb their life-progress; interfere with the pleasure drives, and they turn into pitiable excrement. I look forward with keen anticipation to the psychological probes and the aforementioned S.B.I.. The time has come to find out what these pathetic bastards are truly incapable of.. -Expansion Unit.

We have multiple pieces of sonic mind control devices for your brainwashing pleasure. “Colonoscopy Dinner Party / Mushroom Experiments” cd “Stockholm Brain Implant” cd free brainwashing dvd “Enter the Orifice” with every purchase coming soon... “The Greatest Brainwash” cd and “Dr. Brainwash Christmas” cd
